Note: Screen Tax is not yet listed in the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons store.
For now, install it manually using the steps below — it takes about two minutes.

Installation Instructions
All Chromium-based browsers use the same extension file and the same steps.
Google Chrome
Fully supported
- Download the .zip above and unzip it to a folder you'll keep (e.g.
Documents/screentax-extension) - Open Chrome and go to
chrome://extensions - Enable Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder
- The Screen Tax icon will appear in your toolbar — click it to log in
Microsoft Edge
Fully supported
- Download the .zip above and unzip it to a folder you'll keep (e.g.
Documents/screentax-extension) - Open Edge and go to
edge://extensions - Enable Developer mode using the toggle on the left sidebar
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder
- The Screen Tax icon will appear in your toolbar — click it to log in
Brave
Fully supported
- Download the .zip above and unzip it to a folder you'll keep (e.g.
Documents/screentax-extension) - Open Brave and go to
brave://extensions - Enable Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder
- The Screen Tax icon will appear in your toolbar — click it to log in
Opera / Opera GX
Fully supported
- Download the .zip above and unzip it to a folder you'll keep (e.g.
Documents/screentax-extension) - Open Opera, click the menu (≡) and go to Extensions → Extensions
- Enable Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner
- Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder
- The Screen Tax icon will appear in your toolbar — click it to log in
Firefox and Safari are not currently supported.
Firefox uses a different extension API and Safari requires an Xcode wrapper.
Support for both is planned for a future release.
